RICK Riordan's book series Percy Jackson & the Olympians is being adapted for the small screen at Disney+.
On April 11, 2022, Walker Scobell was cast by the network in the lead role in the upcoming Disney+ series.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians Disney+ series: Who is in the cast?
Variety exclusively reported that the live-action Percy Jackson show has added five new cast members that include:
Megan Mullally will be playing the role of Alecto, a.k.a. Mrs. Dodds. Mrs. Dodds is Percy’s strict, irascible math teacher.
Jason Mantzoukas will be starring as Dionysus, a.k.a. Mr. D. He runs Camp Half Blood, a camp for the demigods.
Glynn Turman will star as Chiron, a.k.a Mr. Brunner. Disguised as Percy’s Latin teacher Mr. Brunner, Chiron is the famed centaur and trainer of heroes.

Virginia Kull will star as Sally Jackson. Sally is Percy’s loving, protective and selfless mother.
Timm Sharp will star as Gabe Ugliano. Gabe is Sally’s selfish, brash, and combative husband and will also be Percy’s stepfather.
On June 21, 2022, Variety revealed that three more actors were added to the cast.
Dior Goodjohn, Olivea Morton, and Charlie Bushnellhave joined the rest of the cast.

Goodjohn will take on the role of Clarisse La Rue, Morton will take on the role of Nancy Bobofit, with Charlie Bushnell as Luke Castellan.
The outlet also reports that Goodjohn and Bushnell will be recurring guest stars.
Morton will be a guest star, however, it does not state the role is recurring.
When does Percy Jackson premiere on Disney+?
Riordan made the announcement on his website about the casting.

"Demigods, the time has come. I am thrilled to introduce you to Percy Jackson," the author wrote.
The official release date for the series has yet to be announced by Disney+ or the author.
As of June 12, 2022, the cast has completed a full week of filming the series in Vancouver.
The author took to his website to update readers: "rest assured it is going well, on schedule, and looking good. Fingers crossed, knock on wood, etc., etc. Stay well and keep reading, demigods!"
The adaptation of the book series got the green light for the project by the streaming service in January 2022, Variety reports.
The young actor Walker Scobellis set to take on the lead role in the new TV series.
Scobell has been in hit films from The Adam Project, and Secret Headquarters.
"It was obvious to me and the rest of the team that Walker had the perfect mix of comedic timing, sweetness, rebelliousness, snark and heroism to embody our hero Percy Jackson," Riordan wrote.

What will the Percy Jackson TV series be about?
The Disney+ series will likely follow the storyline of the book series.
Percy Jackson & the Olympians sees a 12-year-old modern demigod (Scobell), who is coming to terms with his newly discovered supernatural powers.
The god Zeus accuses Percy of stealing his famous master lightning bolt.
This leads Percy on a journey across America to find the lightning bolt and restore the order to Olympus.
Percy also has ADHD and dyslexia, Variety reports.

Ryan Reynolds who starred alongside Scobell in the Netflix film The Adam Project took to Twitter to congratulate his younger costar.
"I guess this makes me older Percy Jackson? Congrats Walker Scobell! You were always a demigod in my mind. #PercyJackson"
